I'm so sorry about the loss of your dog child. As a dog mother myself, I know how much a four-legged family member is loved. You did make the right decision if he was sick and suffering. Although it's so difficult, it's worse to let them keep on because we don't want to let go. Dogs give us so much and ask for so little in return. You gave him the gift of love and the gift of letting go when he needed it.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I lost my best friend in February and so I know what you are going through. It still hurts at times. I don't know what else to say, except a big hug for you today.
ReplyDeleteOh Jamie, I'm so sorry. Having just had to put my 13-year-old cat sleep last week due to kidney failure, I can feel your pain so clearly. As "parents" of our pets, it is our responsibility to keep them from pain and suffering as much as possible, and you and I both did the best thing for them. It doesn't keep the hurt from our hearts, though. I'm sending you a big comfort-hug.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry for your loss, Jamie. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about Murphy. He will be romping in Doggie Heaven with our dog Shandy.
ReplyDeleteOh Jamie, how heartbreaking. It is so hard and so sad to lose a pet. Your dog was so beautiful and special. I love the tribute that you have posted here. My heart is with you during this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a pet can be like losing a family member. I know you love your dogs, I'll be thinking of you.
ReplyDeleteOh Jamie..the death of a pet is a deep, deep loss.
ReplyDeleteYou did the right thing. terrible to see an animal suffer. You acted out of kindness and compassion as any friend would.

Please accept our condolences Jamie. I think every time we lose one of our pets we lose a small bit of our heart too....
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Delores
So sorry to hear about the loss of beloved Murphy...never easy to make those decisions. Thinking of you, Linda
ReplyDeleteI have read and loved the exhuberance of your posts and artwork for a long while. You have brought sunlight and inspiration to so many of us.... hopefully you can take some of that warmth back in this low period. Celebrate those wonderful pictures and the memories shared by the family. Murphy will live on in so many ways. Kathy
ReplyDeleteDear Jamie,
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely tribute and such great photos. I have some very humorous memories of Murphy and Bandit with their rawhide "cigars" in their mouths, chasing around the edge of the pool, and more.
The memories of all the good times with your beloved pet will always be there.
Take care. Sending a big hug to you today.
I am so sorry for you loss Jamie. It's certainly not an easy thing to do. I really feel your pain. We just had to have our sweet Shih Tzu Mitzi Mae put down about a month ago. It's one of the hardest things I've ever done. I hope your heart heals very soon.

What a sweetheart. I know how difficult this is. I still miss my Maggie after almost 2 years.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry. Having gone through it many times, my heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteI had an orange roan cocker myself and he was amazing too. Its heartbreaking having to make that final decision, which is our last act of love for them, so they no longer suffer. I know too well how it feels. So sorry.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry aboout your loss. It is so heartbreaking to make that choice. Thoughts are with you.
ReplyDeleteJamie, I am so sorry for your loss. Just in case you've not seen this before, here's a poem that has been a comfort to me:
ReplyDeleteJust this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
