The Kiahuna, Poipu Beach, Kauai

The Kiahuna Beachside on Poipu Beach, Kauai.  Sunset upon our arrival.

First morning - hello Hawaii

The beach is just below the berm.  The Sheraton is across the way.

Next sunset and a storm rolling in which gave us some rain overnight
The view from our deck.  So beautiful, and then we decided to just eat in for breakfast each day, so we could soak in this view.

The building on the left is where we stayed, in the lower right condo.  I stayed at the Kiahuna with my parents and sister many years ago.  Steve and I honeymooned here, brought our kids here, and celebrated our 20th anniversary here.  It is our most favorite place in Hawaii.

Looking at the beach the other direction

The ocean

Over a cup of Kona coffee, sitting on the deck and taking in the day.  Should we go somewhere, or just stay here all day?
A lovely path

The great lawn, where most people park their beach chairs and towels to enjoy the sunshine.  Sitting in the sand is highly over-rated in my opinion.  Each night people would gather, sitting in their chairs to watch the sunset

The ocean, where we same 2-3 times a day.  It was lovely with small waves, perfect for swimming.  The best waves crashed right on shore.

I sat many afternoons on our deck and drew in my sketchbook, and read books on my Kindle

We did venture out two days of our trip - one for a drive up to Hanapepe (the art area of Kauai) and a 3-hour tubing adventure, where you travel down irrigation ditches and tunnels.

And we ate dinner out each night, and pictures of those adventures are on the Artists Cooking with Gas blog...one per day will be posted   Click here to go to that blog

Steve taking a walk with me

I love to swim in the ocean, and this was truly the highlight of being in Hawaii with my man, celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, which is on the 24th of this month.

Our last day at the Kiahuna and it was a spectacular day!

  1. That looks like a dream vacation, I can imagine how relaxed it is being in that area. It is something I would like to do someday, guess I have to fly sometime in my life, lol.
