Pass the Envelope

A friend of mine came to play with me in my studio, which is always fun to have someone else to make art with!  She wanted to pursue this project, that she had seen in a magazine.  They were fabric envelopes.  So, I made a template out of an existing envelope, cut it in half, made it more interesting, and taped it back together

So, I took 2 pieces of fabric that were fused with Mistyfuse, and ironed them together

and instead of sewing them together, the Mistyfuse held both fabrics together quite well.  I added small skinny strips of Mistyfuse for the flaps on both sides

It looks pretty good

Then a stroke of brilliance came to mind.  Why not put a piece of card stock inside to make the body more stiff?  Yes, it worked well

Mistyfuse scraps were inserted to meld the flaps to each other

Here is my friend's envelope.  We were thinking that they would make great envelopes for party invitations, or for a birthday card.  Just have to figure out how to do the closure for the envelope itself.  That will be another day!  Make Time for Art!
