Paint Palette Re-Do

I bought myself a new watercolor palette.  The ones that I have been using for over 25 years are cracked and not working very well.  I found this one at Blick Art and it is portable, so that is an extra bonus.  The color of the lid was not appealing to me, but the only color that the store carried.

Here's the inside and there is a nice amount of space for mixing colors

I had been playing with stencils last week to create the shopping bag re-do, so I thought that I would do something similar to the lid of this box, to make it more like me.  I am using the Vintage Typewriter Alphabet from StencilGirl Products

I might have forgotten to add, that all of the stencils are done on Deli paper, yes the kind you get a sandwich wrapped in at your local deli.  They become almost transparent when doing a collage.  I had some leftovers from a previous project using the What's the Point stencil by Nathale Kalbach for StencilGirl Products

and really, who doesn't love polka dots?*!  I am applying the Deli paper onto the top of the paint box with Liquitex Matte Medium.  I love polka dots, which is this month's theme on The Sketchbook Challenge this month.  The scoop is here

It is coming together!  I added some other pieces of Deli paper where I just paint lines with red acrylic paint

I trimmed the edges that were hanging off the sides with my scissors

Now I have the paint box that I want, and I love it's new top.  I am going to seal it with Liquitex Gloss Varnish and it will be ready to roll!

  4. In addition to mixing colors, a paint palette also serves to keep the artist's workspace clean and organized. By containing the paint within the wells or compartments, palettes help prevent spills and drips, reducing waste and mess during the painting process. Divorce lawyers New Jersey
