Revisiting Older Works

Over the weekend, I received a package in the mail from C&T Publishing.  Two small quilts were returned from 2009.  What a nice surprise!  They were on display in their booth at Festival in Houston to promote Jane Davilla's new book, and Liquitex soft body acrylic paints..  This one is called "Zip It Up" 12x12- technique: stamping, combing, stencil, collage, using soft body acrylics by Liquitex.  It's fun to see that I still use zippers, stencils and paint. Only now, I am designing stencils for StencilGirl Products, which is really fun. The quilts are both made the way that i am making them now, fused commercial fabrics onto a wool blended felt foundation, and backed with the same (National Nonwovens TOY002) which is 35% wool..

.
She is titled "Thinking of Home"  11x11 There's that house again.  I called this painted fused collage and quilting. I used soft body acrylic paints by Liquitex, ink and mediums, stencils and inktense pencils.  I think it's pretty fun to be able to look back at older work to see changes in style, color, and subjects. I still put houses on heads, and love the imagery of home.  Now I will have to find a place to hang these in my studio. Oh, what fun!
