| Since my new line is all about heart and soul sisters, I wanted to create part of a double wedding ring style quilt, with just two rings. I used my Sizzix Big Shot Pro to cut out the rings. They are 9" wide. I can save the inner circles for another project, and frankly, the outer portions as well. All of the fabrics in this project were fused with Mistyfuse. |

| I think these make a nice combo. The hot pink swirl and the line green triangles. They kinda remind me of my childhood bedroom color scheme. I made one slice in the green, so I could intertwine the circles. |

| Now for the fun part of adding the words from the text fabric. The phrases were already there. I just cut them out individually, so I could lay them out on the circles. |

| I decided on an orange/tangerine background, which is not part of the line, but is a Hoffman batik. Using the hearts from the grid fabric, I thought that adding them to the inner corners would give the piece balance. |

| I used a combination of grid fabrics and blenders to finish out the quilt. All of those little squares have my drawings in them, as well as, the blenders. This was made on a wool blended felt foundation in black, and backed with the same in pink. It is made by National Nonwovens #T0Y002. No batting, no binding. You can click on it to see it larger. |

ReplyDeleteThat is such fun fabric and I love the piece you made with it. I love the idea of making something fun for my daughter but also thinking how fun this would be to make a charity quilt for a teen in the hospital, a wonderful way to cheer them up and lift their spirits.

ReplyDeleteHi Jamie... I have the most beautiful granddaughter adopted four years ago from an orphanage in Guatemala. She is bright and fun, and taking gymnastics and loves it! My son and his wife tried fourteen years to have their own child and about a third of the way through the adoption proces, found out they were expecting. A beautiful, small fragile blonde angel girl and if you ever saw two SOUL SISTERS, these two are the ones. This is a perfect line to create a small quilt for each of them. This art quilter Gramma would love to do that for Zara and Maria. So very special these girls.

I considered her my little pain when we were younger but she is now my only living blood relative and we appreciate spending time together. She even wants to learn to sew. Maybe this would be a good together project.
